Scrambled

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid. *

Cora has discovered the wondrous fun of eggs.

It was quite an accidental discovery--I think--actually she could have been copying me when, one recent morning, she got her hands on the eggs in a carton on the counter and broke one open.

There's been nothing accidental about it since. I cannot turn my back if they're out and she's anywhere in the kitchen. I think she picks one egg up, cracks the shell on the nearest hard surface, dumps the insides, and puts the shell back in the carton. But she could be prying it open with her tiny little fingers. I don't know. If I managed to catch her in the act, I wouldn't let this happen.

Every kid likes to crack eggs.

Thank goodness she can't open the refrigerator yet.

We found a neighbor with chickens and a surplus of eggs, and gave the kids about three dozen to toss around the back yard.

Indulging her egg passion openly might make it easier to say no to cracking without an OK first....

Either way, thanks for the sweet memories of days that have been outgrown, here....
