The rose may be the queen of flowers but the gardenia gives her a run for her money. With a heavenly scent and pure white petals, not to mention its perfect timing for bridal season, it seems a shoo-in for one of the top flowers for a Mary garden--but to the best of my knowledge, there is no Marian association to this flower.
I am thinking up different possibilities for a Marian "nickname" for this delight. Hey, if you know of any lore connecting our Lady to the gardenia, Will you let me know?
